Modding An Affinity Squier P-Bass

Hey guys! This isn't my first time posting but my first time starting a new thread. So I have this Squier Affinity P-Bass that I got for my first bass and I'm thinking of modding it; adding new bridge, pickups, etc. I have thought about DiMarzio*DP127 Split P pickups and a Leo Quan Badass bridge. What would you guys recommend?Also, I don't have that big of a budget being a teenager who just spent all his money on other bass equipment :p

Modding is fun-its all bolt on pretty much with fenders. I modded a MIM fender P a few years back when I started college and it was my main bass a long time and I learned a bunch. Think about what it is you dont like about the bass and what you want it to be more like just throwing new brands on it may not make it sound the way you want it to, but with an affinity many things can be improved-there solid mod platforms though.

I have been talking about this on so many posts, I don't mean to, but it seems relevant. I found a red fretless Fender Jazz. It's at a pawn shop that is pretty fishy though. I don't know the condition of it, I know it has a good body and a good neck, and it does play. I don't know how the pots are, wiring ect... I may get it to mod it. I secretly want to change the color, because I have too many red basses and I don't mean to. That is just my situation right now haha.

Before you do any mods, since money appears to be an issue, get a proper pro setup and some new strings. You may find it needs no mods, a setup and new strings is much cheaper than a bunch of mods that may or may not make your bass any better. Yes, mods can be fun, but even on a cheap bass like an Affinity, they may turn out more expensive than they are worth.

I would do a babicz bridge over a badass II. I dont notice any difference like they say the badass does. The babicz is a more advanced and adjustable design. Id definitely recommend new pickups in the affinity. I owned one affinity squier back in the day and the pickups were lacking. The vm squier pickups are great but the affinity squier ones arent. I also played my buddys affinity squier and it also needed new pickups.

I don't think its a question of setup (I agree this makes a big improvement) so much as he want's to have some fun altering the bass itself??? I say go for it; not only is it a fun project to undertake with some great experience, but it makes the bass so much more personal.

I'm actually in the process of modding two affinity Ps. They started out as twins (black with a white pg) one has a tort pg, J bass knobs and will soon have a black color matched headstock. Strung with flats I think the pickups sound fine. The other will be black with black pg, cream pickup covers and eventually a maple fretboard (long time off) strung with DR high beams I have no complaints about the pups on this guy either.
