Modding my VM Jazz V

Hey everyone,

So I have this gorgeous Squier VM Jazz 5, and I'm thinking about some mods. As for cosmetics, I already ordered a torqoise pickguard and black knobs. Now hardware wise, I don't know really... I want this bass to be able to produce heavy tones. (djenty, prog metal stuff) I was looking at a BABICZ bridge and SD Quarterpounder pickups. (SJ5-3, I heard these work really well) Any opinions? Thanks in advance!

As to the Babicz, please understand the VMJ5 has 18mm spacing with a "weird" bridge screw hole pattern. The Babicz is 19mm, so your strings would be slightly closer to the edge near at the bridge end of the neck, and it would have to be totally redrilled.

I replaced the original bridge with a WD high mass bridge, like this one: Invalid Link Removed but the holes still weren't a perfect fit and needed a bit of a "tweak.

A high-mass bridge is also going to make (the bass brighter with more sustain, not darker). I also went with Lollar single-coil jazz pickups. I'm really partial to these, but I think the humbucking Quarter Pounder would be a good aggressive pickup.

Thank you, I might skip the bridge then... Alright, I'd be good with the quarter pounders it seems. Any other mods you guys would recommend?

I added Hipshot 3 + 2 string retainers and I feel that helped a little with the B. Very happy with my VMJ5
