I must assume that people that trash the Affinity have actually had bad experiences with them. Fortunately I have nothing but good experience.
The best thing I found on my $60 AFN was the body looked new, and the neck was sweet. In fact, I cannot tell the difference between MY Affinity neck and the Vintage Modify neck, so I wonder if the manufacturer used the same ones. My AFN is from Indo and I only found the PG and electronic to be crappy. The tuners are excellent as well, so the only original parts on mine are: body, neck, 3 tuners (because of the Hipshop Drop d).
Personally I can’t think of a better platform to mod than the Affinity, because parts are plentiful and many times cheap. I’m surprised that you think the neck is crappy, is this because you just don’t like the feel of a P? What year is yours and where was it made?
Bottom Line, I says go for it. Personalize your own bass, and you’ll be glad you did.
