Mode Knob?

I just got a new amp, with a parametric EQ. It has a mode knob on it. What does this knob do? Also how should i use the pre-gain and post-gain controls porperly?

"Mode" is the width of the frequency band that is raised / lowered by the gain knob.

Turn the pre-gain up. If there is a clip LED, turn it up so this only flashes when you hit a hard note, if there is a signal LED, turn it up until the LED comes on. If there are no lights, turn up the post-gain and then turn up the pre-gain so you can hear your signal. If it starts to distort, the pre-gain is too high.

But how do i use mode knob? I understand, but i dont understand. What will turning it down and turning it up do to my tone?
