modern vs blacktop j bass

Ok im in the market for a new or used j bass...I like the p bass but I need versatility and I like the thinner neck on the j. That being said, I was looking at the modern j bass at guitar center, and it seemed to be really loud but If I messed with the tone more I think I can get a great sound outta it. I haven't found a blacktop in store so im weary on buying one, bit they have two p bass pickups that I may be able to get an awesome sound out of. I need help! I've asked abt the blacktop before, but need a good opinion on the comparison now.

For well done P pup sets for neck and bridge, I think BC RFich has the market cornered pretty well. Been doing them fpor decades. Double P pups available on Mockingbirds, Zombie, and Eagle along with some Warlocks. These also have very good 2band eq onboard stock. If I was getting the fender a pup replacement and 2band eq add would be part of the purchase price. The bC Rich's on the other hand dont need the upgrade imo. And neck thru body design instead of bolt on.
