Modify English Muff'n?

i realize this is an old thread, but I have a few related questions. I'm not great with circuit diagrams, so I was wondering if I could get some advice...

1. what would be the best capacitor to change to improve the overall bass response? For what values, too?

2. Is there a way to eliminate some of the hum that plagues my muff'n? It is really kind of obscene- it doesn't come through when I am playing notes but when I'm not playing it's more than ridiculous.

I'm wondering about this too. Is there some kinda mod that can be done to kill the noise/hum?

If yo add a blend between 15 and the output it will just oscillate, as you will be introducing a positive feedback loop around two inverting gain stages. If you wnt this to work with a 5 string bass, install a .022uf across C4 [.0068uf]. This was designed for guitars not to be muddy.

Maybe a mod could give him a free membership, he would be a definite asset to the forum, like Bill Fitzmaurice and others who give free tech advice.

That's it.
Simple as can be. Heck, the location is even marked on the component side of the board, so it's really easy & simple to do.

I had to clip the lead to the lower LED for better access, but I just soldered it back up and sealed it w/some heatshrink tube.

So, this mod will give me a better bass response? Anybody have any clips with the mod incorporated? I really love my Muff'n (so much so that I let it go to try some other pedals and then got another one) but I would prefer it didn't cut the low end so much. I'm really thinking about taking this to my local pedal/guitar/amp tech.

So I did the C4 mod and it sounds pretty good, and I got to thinking that I can't add highs and retain lows at the same time with the tonestack as is. Does anyone see anything going horribly awry with this change to the tonestack?

Seems to me that this would make the High and low control more independent of each other without drastically changing the tone. I would appreciate those more experienced letting me know if I'm missing something.

Here is the stock tonestack diagram (input on the right, wiper of volume pot to output, tap between volume pot and mid pot to ground):

I got an English Muff n and its quite old, i just noticed that the right tube lights up less than the left one. Should i worry or its common? I noticed it after looking through these mods, sorry if my question is a bit oftopic :)
