Modulus Basses

"Gee I hope you weren't playing it thru a BA115..." basspro

i love my ba-115, as she has treated me very well in the past. i have played plenty of small gigs and sounded great with it. i also found that i could get plenty of tone out of many different basses with her. That said, i was just expressing my opinion, sorry you couldn't handle the brief interruption in this modulus love fest

I've had a Genesis 5 string for 2 years. It has an alder body, a figured maple top honeyburst finish, Bartolini Soapbars with a bart NTMB preamp. With the genesis neck having a Alder wood shell, My bass has warmer more woody tone than a Q5 and that suits me fine. It still has the graphite sustain and resonance. Killer good looks and smooth even volume across all notes, anywhere on the fretboard. You can't go wrong with a modulus as long as it has a truss rod. I can't believe they even sold any without a truss rod. Without neck adjustability I can't imagine the set up problems on an earlier modulus.

The graphite neck basically does not move. Different string gauges and tensions do not affect the relief in the graphite neck as they do in a wood neck.

In theory, neck relief is not used to adjust the action of a bass, so if your neck never moves, you should never need to adjust it.

Enjoying the Modulus thread.

I recently (couple of months ago) put in an order for:

Modulus
Quantum 4 Bass
Plain Black finish on the body
Black Hardware
Composite fingerboard
Fretted
EMG -DC pickup(s) with active bass and treble (BTS)

And I've already received a couple of passive pickups from William Villex which are intended to go into the Quantum 4 when it arrives (Q1 2003 I hope).

May sound a bit plain for a 'boutique bass' but it fits my personality (!). I'll be ABing the EMGs and Villex's and will post results but there's a bit of a wait for that.

Now all I'm waiting for is Epifani's new Ultralight integrated amps to power up the T-115UL and T-210UL cabinets I have.

Unfortunately reports of this 'ideal' set up have to wait for Modulus to do their magic with the 1000 Ladies Dancing.

Happy bottom ending ;).

Hello folks!
Here is Tekken (Andrea) from Turin, Italy.
I need your help!

I've just purchased this bass.
In your opinion, is this and original Modulus Quantum 5?

The seller told me:
- Quantum 1997 model;
- blue stone sunburst finish;
- original chrome hardware;
- EMG pick-ups;
- alder body;
- granadillo fretboard.

... is normal to have not signature marked "Modulus" Gotoh Res O Lite tuning keys equipped on this bass?

I thank you all in advance for your attention.

holy carp, this might be the record for posting to a "zombie thread"... :laugh:

the original gotoh tuners should have the modulus snowflake stamp. pic below is of my mod neck (same year as your bass).

don't think gotoh started making res-o-lite tuners until about 10-15 years ago.

Actually the phenolic fingerboard sometimes will shrink causing the carbon fiber neck to bow and it doesn't matter if the neck has a truss-rod either to correct it, you might need to plain the fingerboard down and then refret it or depending on the severity you might need to replace the neck all together.

bubba-b
so, do you think that mine is not an original Modulus bass or that it's an original one but with substituted keys?

(I've purchased it with also a marked and very used Modulus case)
your bass definitely looks legit. just happens that a previous owner subbed out the original tuners for resolites. i consider that an upgrade. subbed out the tuners on all my basses with resolites.
