What year is that catalog from? I have a Flight SP Bass and Guitar, but they are not the monocoque. They are the bolt on necks..
These are very cool. The construction of the bodies, with the koa (I presume) sides, and the five narrower strips down the center is very similar to my bass (photos on page 10 of this thread).
Donk, I'm also guessing the two very narrow strips down the center are maple. Do you know what the two wider reddish strips of wood down the center are? The grain looks like mahogany, but the wood looks red, not brown like any mahogany I've seen.
That flyer was included with the materials Geoff Gould sent me when I first inquired about Modulus instruments some time in the mid-80s. It was that picture of the Quantum 6 that convinced me I wanted a Modulus!

Thanks, donk. It didn't occur to me the body sides could be walnut. And I don't see enough padauk to recognize it by sight.
This is a shot of the back of my bass.
Note the brass neck plate and control cavity cover.
Oh, man, Padauk just might be my favorite exotic wood species! A bazillion years ago I built a bass body out of 8/4 Eastern Rock Maple with a 1/4" top laminate of Padauk...not coincidentally, modeled (loosely) on the shape of that Modulus Quantum 6 portrayed in the 80s flyer several posts up.
The bass absolutely sucked...but it was freakin' gorgeous! Some day I swear I'm gonna get a Warmoth body with copious Padauk.
donk, do you know any more about this pic that you posted?? You say it is from 1983.. Well I bought that 6 String Flight in this pic..

They were just made to try to do the headless thing. i don't remember how many there were, not many. Geoff Gould or Jerry Dorsch might remember more. They were pretty cool and worked!
I just read a post by Geoff himself about the headless bass Flight 4SP. Only about 10 or so were made. Of the guitars as pictured which would be the Flight 6SP, there were only about 4 made. They are exceedingly rare. I have the Flight 6SP and 1 of the 4SP with the original case as well. They play really well

I forgot that sheet had my bass on it, as well as yours. Henry Kaiser ended up with that 12-string, I think the bass player in Romeo Void got the white PJ.

Can't find much info about it, but a 5 string neck thru Bassstar. 2-1/2" at the heal. 1-3/4" at the nut. One of my favorite basses ever..
