Modulus graphite neck issue....

Are there any Modulus players out there who have had an issue with the carbon fiber neck?
When I brought my Q-4 to my guitar tech he informed me that the neck skis upward from fret 12 to the last fret and also has too much "relief" on fret 5.
I thought these necks were not supposed to warp or bow...??
Last week I sent an e-mail into Modulus, but have not heard back from them as of yet.
Just curious if anyone else has had this experience, and how and by whom, was it fixed. My luthier said there is not much that can really be done, short of replacing the neck. And on the Modulus website - they go for over $600.
I just hope this is a warrranty covered repair. I don't even know if it's still under warranty for that matter. I think it's over 10 years old.
Spending another $600+ on a $4000 bass just doesn't seem right!

I had other problems with my Modulus Q6's neck. After a long time waiting for a response from them I contacted Mr. Jerry Dorsch. He refinished my neck and got it back to me before Modulus even sent a reply email (and at a great price). I'm not sure what he might recommend in your case but it wouldn't hurt to give him a call. I've referred a couple other people to him and they've had good experiences as well. I've seen his name come up in a couple of cases for those needing graphite work done as well as other work on TB.

Here's his contact info:

This was the thinking when they first came out. Once they'd been around for some years it was found that this wasn't true. Notice that now all the builders of quality composite necks put truss rods in them.

You may have a chance with work similar to what's done to wood necks with a slight twist or ski flip. Get a refret and have the fingerboard planed.

Huge, HUGE +1. Don't wait for Modulus, it's pointless. Jerry is the man.

I can attest to this. I used to own a Modulus M92-4 I got used and I took Pickles' advice and sent it to Jerry - he refretted it and planed the fretboard for 200 bucks, installed a new nut and everything.

Edit: The neck, when I got it, had a huge amount of relief, and anything beyond the 12th fret would clack like crazy.

I played the hell out of it after that and liked it, sold it to a fellow TBer who collects, and bought a steinberger - but it was a great intro to graphite basses.

However, if you bought your bass new, you are covered by Modulus for life I believe. If you got it used, it's not covered, so don't bother.

Thanks to all who replied and commented re: Q-4 neck issue.
I did get a call from Joe Perman of Modulus, we had a very nice discussion and told me that they can look at the bass, but it is not covered and would have to pay for the repair. And shipping as well.
So now I need to determine if I want to invest in getting it repaired.
It's a great bass, but being recently unemployed puts it on the "way in the back" burner.
Guess my two Fender J's and Pedulla will see more action for now.
I appreciate all the TB'ers & Modulus support!

Good luck trying to get in touch with Anderson at Modulus. I have called several times with no avail and unless you actually get him to answer the phone, I have found they never get back to you. You don't say if the bass is new, used, old or what. The necks Modulus sells as "replacements" are not for the Quantum. Only for the Genesis and VJ's.
I would have to agree with Dave - talk to Jerry at Graphite Guitars.
