Just wondering any of you Mobsters have owned both a TBX5 and Q5 and if there is a real noticeable difference in tone, feel or anything else you could share ? Have my eye on both.

Huge difference between the 2.. Everything. Feel, tone, sound.. Everything. Not better or worse, but Fender/Gibson different. I prefer my Pre-TBX neck thru, however mine is 34" scale not 35, so it is even more different than comparing 35's to 35's
Biggest difference is tbx sustain is just unbelievable it is thought there is no vibration in the body at all

don't exactly know the physics behind it but the tbx 'sits' better against me than a q5. more comfortable.
tone is markedly different on my tbx with the bridge mounted onto the graphite (more 'focused' and 'tighter'). running barts on that one.
the tone on my tbx with the maple centerblock is a bit 'darker' and a bit more natural sounding. that also could be contributed to the aggie electronics tho.
as a counterpoint, the tbx i had in the mid-90's (alder body / maple top / no centerblock) also played spectacularly but the tone (emg electronics) made it sound like a sick trombone in a cave. ah, if only talkbass/ebay/reverb existed back then, i'd be more inclined to futz around with the electronics and maybe find nirvana.
mind you, q5's are the bee's knees. more available in the market. i think the only tbx out there currently is the one on reverb with the tinted neck.
as an aside, if anyone's in the l.a. area, there are a couple of moduli-related items:

Thanks guys. That one on Reverb seems priced a little hi for its condition. Is that the going rate, obviously so much higher than Q5's.

When I sold my factory Quantum hardcase on Ebay a few years back, a minor bidding war broke out and I was surprised by what it finally sold for...something like $250 if I remember correctly.
The one on reverb is mine. Feel free to pm me with any questions and of course, price is always negotiable
wow. bass cases locally on c-list go for around $50. in fact, i picked up the exact modulus case that's on reverb/ebay for $50 from a cat locally.
i gave it as incentive to an international buyer on a vj4. maybe shoulda kept it!
i do have a couple original modulus ('modulus graphite' logo) wood hard cases. beat to heck. $999 each plus $999 ground shipping!
