Modulus Q5 maybe too clean...How to warm it up?

I understand what you're talking about.
I run my Geoff Gould GGi5 (practically same bass as the Quantum) into an Eden WT800.
I prefer my sound to be a little loose and fat (instead of the "precise" sound you refer to), and as long as I'm hitting the preamp in the WT800 hard enough, I'm there. Don't scoop too much mids, either. That will clean and tighten things up too much if you go too far with that.
Also, I'm probably at 70 neck/30 bridge on the pu blend pot.

I run my Q5 with EMGs into an Alembic F1-X--->Stewart World 2.1---->Bag End coaxial 15 cabinet or EA 2x10 cabinet. This gives me the modern Modulii tone with a buttery sheen.

Playing a Carbon fiber bass i understand where you are coming from.

I use a english muffin to break up the high end and give just that little bit of "hair" to my tone.

Seriously, that's not why. I lov ethe sound, but it hurts to play. The scale length and added reach to 1/2 position is killing my hand.

I agree with Ken. I loved my two Modulus basses when I was using Eden gear. The upper-mid response of the graphite coupled with the upper-mid accentuated voicing of the Genz heads made for a very cold sound. The low-mid voicing of the Eden heads and cabs balanced it all out very well.

My 2 cents.

I concur. My B-Quad (has a modulus neck) through my eden 410xlt + navigator pre = super hot midrange growl.

I actually use the semi-parametric mid on my Q5 to boost up the upper midrange to get a pronounced growl.

Of course, I'm coming from a jazz bass so I can't do without that growllll!

In case you didn't know...Mod is making 34" Qs now. That 35" is a stretch for me too.

Personally, after owning two Quantums, I NEVER liked the tone of them (Barts or otherwise) thru brighter rigs but absolutely loved them through an SVT rig and my old DB750/GS412 Aggie rig. The idea of modulus now making a 34" and offering 19mm spacing is VERY tempting.
