I understand what you're talking about.
I run my Geoff Gould GGi5 (practically same bass as the Quantum) into an Eden WT800.
I prefer my sound to be a little loose and fat (instead of the "precise" sound you refer to), and as long as I'm hitting the preamp in the WT800 hard enough, I'm there. Don't scoop too much mids, either. That will clean and tighten things up too much if you go too far with that.
Also, I'm probably at 70 neck/30 bridge on the pu blend pot.
