Modulus Quantum 6 valuation?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by jazzcrime, Jan 7, 2009.

  1. Hi guys, I'm not sure if this is breaking the rules by asking, but moderators feel free to delete if you need. I'm not trying to sell my Modulus Quantum 6 on here, but I am not sure what asking price I would put on it if I did. The bass is a 1990 Modulus Quantum 6, EMG pickups and preamp/EQ, Kahler fixed bridge, not sure of the woods but the top is beautiful - somekind of flamed/quilted maple.
Here are some pictures. Any help would be great. Mods - sorry if this is against the rules.

Beautiful bass! I am no expert, but I would guess around $2000.

Doesn't look like many of the Quantums are moving on eBay. This one is a little older than the others. I'd put the value at around $1400.

Depending on the condition of the bass, I'd estimate that you could get $1400-$1800 for it, easily.

  5. Pretty much perfect condition besides a small ding probably 1/3 the size of my little finger nail... No scratching and just the odd less than mm in diameter ding.

I bought my 98 Q6 on ebay for $1500 a couple of years ago. Quilt maple top, Barts, 3-band, both a Modulus hard case and gig bag.

I think mine was a little undervalued but I think that the 6's in general go for a little less than the 5-string counterparts. These days I'd think that $1400-ish is reasonable. Maybe a little more? But I wouldn't hold your breath for $2000.

Times are tough, $1,400-$1,600 seems about right. Asking price should be a little higher. I've never seen that "modulus" font...neat!
