Mojo Sonic Mini T (mini-review)

I've had this speaker for a few weeks now and wanted to share my experience with it. This little dude was dreamed up by our own Kenny Allyn and built right here in my home state of Missouri. I didn't realize this until I read the invoice included with the cab. The builder is Engineered Audio in Jackson, MO. I had noticed Kenny's new avatar, did a search, and found his web site. The Mini T was looking like it would fill my bill, but I was still a little hesitant and asked if there was an evaluation period. Kenny said sure, take a week. I placed my order on a Friday, and nine days later it was at my door. It only took a couple of minutes of playing to realize that I wouldn't be asking for a refund. As I related to Kenny, I am very picky about good mid-range articulation - I gotta have it. My other speakers are 3-ways and a 2-12 w/mid driver. This speaker has it in spades. He obviously spent some time working with the tuning and ports. There are two small slot ports on the left side of the cabinet. The result is a good natural sound without 'boxiness'. The build quality is flawless. The recessed handle is on the side (where it belongs IMHO) so your amp can sit on top without interference. The cab comes with feet but installation is left up to you. I like this idea. If you buy two for a mini-stack, you can mount feet on the cab that will be on the bottom and not put feet on the cab that will be on top. The drivers (10" neo & tweeter) are both Eminence. I didn't do any disassembly to check part numbers. I'm thinking that they are off-the-shelf, because if they were customs, this speaker would be selling for much more. The px-ii 3k5 crossover does have protection for the tweeter. More detail and specs. on the crossover can be found here: Link Removed

Kenny - thanks again, and please feel free to jump in to clarify or correct anything I may have gotten wrong here! Pics:

Nice & controlled, just as I like it (I don't care for boomy, over-hyped bass). I bought this for playing at low levels in a small room. The B strings on my Afterburner and Kinal sound very good through it. I'm running the tweeter about 1/3 of the way up. Let me know when you want to get together and I'll bring it along...

Hi Roger. In one of the PM's we exchanged, Kenny was saying that his goal was to offer the same quality of the big names at a lower price. IMHO, he has succeeded. I'm pretty well covered cab-wise presently, but I would still like to hear this one sitting on top of the regular (tweeterless) Mini. Good stuff!

I hear you,...cab wise, I'm overcrowded too. I'd like to hear 2 or 3 of them stacked!!!!..LOL. BTW, I'm from Missouri also.... a small town called Perryville.

from the site...

Mini and Mini T have several advantages over other speaker systems. The cabinets weigh in at an incredible 21.5 and 23 lbs respectively with dimensions of only 15"W x 13.5" T x 12.5" D they are easily transported via the large ergonomic side handle.
