Most of the gear is owned by me and my two band mates equally. I set it up and I want it that way. Now we have a sound guy and I let him help, but the drummer has his own stuff to worry about and I wouldn't let my guitarist near anything important. I barely let him touch his own rig. lol

No, but my country band had only two monitors when I joined them, both on the other side of the stage. One up front, and one to the drummers right as a side fill for his benefit. Their previous bassist didn't sing, while I do leads and harmonies, so I grabbed one of my powered speakers from my small PA I use for my solo/duo acoustic stuff and use it as my monitor. Suits me just fine. And yes, I take care of everything myself, and prefer it that way. I like to use reliable gear, and always fix what needs fixing before the next gig, etc. Can't say that about players and their gear in other bands I've been in.

I really don't want the guitard and especially the drummer touching my $10,000 investment.
But that's my choice. I'm sure each band is different. It's hard enough to get a great set up without having a bunch of cooks in the kitchen.
BUT, if you're just starting out and want to be democratic, I think having everyone buy a component is fine - it's just what do you do when someone leaves the band and takes your mains!!

I like that rule with the caveat that they must supply pro gear like mine - JBL PRX612. Also, they must have their own mics, stands, and mic cables. Especially singers and drummers.
It may be that I play in a niche market.
We can just come up with criteria... write it down... then everyone lives by it.
I'd NEVER supply mics, cords, stands etc again..... have been thinking of adding monitors to the list... folks could buy an IEM setup OR a quality active monitor.
I carry a spare guitar wireless incase the venue only has headphone out to a monitor.... works great....
