Hi guys, I'm desperately looking for mp3 files of Monk Montgomery's "bass odyssey" and "reality". I'm very interested in the way he solos and would like to transcribe them.

I've got the latter on vinyl, but no idea how to easily convert it to mp3. Suggestions?

yeah: good luck with the mp3's. i'm sure some of his stuff is out there, but sadly (IMO), monk's playing has not always been held in high enough esteem to be 'all over the internet'. he was a quieter guy and didn't always get the respect shown to others even when he was alive. nice guy, though!

I'm a big fan of his brother Wes, I just discovered who Monk was and how he played the bass. God, these Montgomery guys were superhumans.

another great video. Reality is a great record and I love the psychedelic fuzzed out tunes on bass odyssey. I love monk and agree he is criminally overshadowed.

That's a great piece, really gives Monk his due. I discovered Monk through Wes, naturally, on the early Mastersounds album that the brothers all made together. Loved the album, and Monk's playing just fit. And felt right. I didn't realize at the time how much of a trailblazer he was on the electric bass. Boy, what a musical family!
