I agree, those moon basses are totally hot...

I like how the neck pup is slightly angled...slap in a split coil J like the ones Carey Nordstrand makes and I bet it can get a great P-bass vibe goin, too.

who's got one? and how do they sound?

I Would like to hear and to know the Larry Graham Moon bass model users about the particular placement of the neck pickup.
Indeed it is crooked.
Do you like the position of this pickup and why?
The slap technique and double thumb is simply to do ?

At the bass end, the pickups are exactly 4" apart (70's spacing), but at the treble end, the spacing is 3.25" apart, so tighter-than-60s (3.6") spacing.

You get these spacings at each string:

E: 3 7/8"
A: 3 11/16"
D: 3 1/2"
G: 3 7/16"

I think it sounds somewhere between a very spanky 60s and a full-on 70s, but the balance between higher and lower strings is never a problem. The crooked pickup doesn't give you a tone that is something other than "Jazz bass", it's basically the same. Easy to play anything, just like on a Jazz.

PINO has a set of these basses. One in white and one in black. last I checked he string them with TI Flats.
