Moon landing. Real or Fake?

While I'm not saying the landing *was* fake, he does make good arguments.
!!!
1. He has supplied zero supporting evidence. The quotes and numbers he cited may be completely fabricated--that's a common tactic of the 9/11 loons, I mean Truthers. Compare that to the mountain of evidence for the landing linked in this thread.

2. How many hundreds of people would have to be in on this to fake MULTIPLE lunar landings??? There were six over the course of three and a half years, not just the one!!!

3. He spelled defunct "defunked."

Easy tiger. I never said I thought it was fake. I was just making the observation.

Quoted from another site:

After landing on the moon, the two crew members would prepare first the ascent stage of the LM for liftoff. Then, they'd rest and prepare for their mission objectives on the moon's surface. Once they had completed those objectives, they'd return to the LM for ascent. The upper section of the LM would separate from the descent stage (once again using explosive bolts). The ascent stage's RCS provided 3,500 pounds of thrust, enough to launch it into lunar orbit.

*NASA designed the ascent stage's radar antenna to receive transmissions from the transponder in the CSM. The transponder transmitted information regarding the CSM's position and velocity. With this information, the two sections maneuvered so that they could dock together. After docking, the crew from the LM transferred over any sample materials they gathered on the moon. Then they sealed off both vehicles and jettisoned the LM, sending it on a collision course with the moon. Instruments left on the moon's surface measured the impact as part of a seismic research project.

I saw no mention of using a throttle to get off the moon.

I have a question for you experts:

Are there any recent pictures from the Shuttle, Hubble or some other high powered scopes that show the items left on the moon?

The Lunar Module, The Lunar Rover, The Flag? That stuff should still be up there shouldn't it?

no way in hell the shuttle had enough shielding to get through the radiation belts without killing the passengers.

Why would it be so difficult to go again granted the extreme jump in technology in the past 40 years?

It's all fake everything they tell us is BS.

I love Conspiracy theories.

Apollo astronauts who walked on the Moon

As of 2009, twelve people have walked on the Moon. All human landings so far took place between July 1969 and December 1972, as part of the Apollo program.

Apollo 11 - Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin
Apollo 12 - Pete Conrad, Alan Bean
Apollo 14 - Alan Shepard, David Scott
Apollo 15 - David Scott, James Irwin
Apollo 16 - John W. Young, Charles Duke
Apollo 17 - Eugene Cernan, Harrison Schmitt

The technical questions aside, I would feel mighty uncomfortable calling these people liars.

And that's just to start. There are thousands of highly qualified people who worked intimately with the Apollo program and who absolutely vouch for its authenticity. In order to believe the moon landings were a fraud, you'd be accusing all of them of either purposeful deceit or monumental stupidity . . . or both.

For as much fun as some of you are having mocking the "morons'', is some of this proof any less laughable?

Here's a question for the non-morons to ponder... has there ever in the history of man been any large scale conspiracies? Some of you act like people keeping quiet about something for 40 years is unimaginable. That's not very long.

you realize lasers are -routinely- shot at the moon, reflect off special reflectors left there by the astronauts and the time it takes for the light to turn around and return is then measured to calculate the precise distance - within a few mm -of the moon to the earth.

you realize that, right? been going on since the first landing, experiments performed by scientists all over the world.

And how exactly is that a proof that men have actually been there? Can't you do it remotely quite easily?

Keeping ~400,000 people, most of whom would have had to have intimate knowledge of the hoax being perpetrated, silent on the issue for 40 years is the PRIMARY proof that the conspiracy kooks are just that, kooks. No way in heck that would happen, too many potential leaks amongst that many individuals.

There there is the rest of the undeniable physical evidence (retroreflectors on the moon, etc) that seems to be ignored or swept under the carpet by the kooky mooninites.

Finally, nortonrider, see some of my previous posts with LRO photos. As for a telescope that could resolve those items from earth or NEO, not possible, nothing has that kind of resolution. Just because Hubble can "see" stars at thousands of light years, or galaxies at billions of light years overlooks the fact that these are IMMENSE objects that are emitting radiation (light, x-ray, infrared, etc) on their own. You're expecting something that is simply reflective, and is very small - remember the LEM is no where near as big as you think it is, it's literally about 3 meters across, max, the lunar rover is no larger than an overgrown go-kart. Imagine trying to build a telescope that would allow you to read the fine print on your cellphone contract on a music stand in Los Angeles when you are sitting in NYC. Not gonna happen.

So your answer is no, there has never been a large scale conspiracy in the history of man?

Why would MOST of the 400,00 you mentioned need to be in on the conspiracy? As if most people don't simply believe what they're told?

Ever notice which side all the namecalling seems to come from with this stuff? What's up with that?

I'm still waiting to see any of the 100%ers acknowledge anything negative about the situation. Recordings of THE top achievement in man's history just up and gone? Who got fired over that boneheaded move?

Most morons wouldn't buy that all of those recordings disappeared or even better, were recorded over. Seems like it would take a moron to do that. A moron in the same group that many of you have zero resevations about.

Sweet.

And does anyone in this day and age actually believe what they see in photgraphs without question?
:)

Exactly. Conspiracies are hard enough to contain when they're small and minor. Maintaining silence among many thousands for several decades would be quite impossible, and I'd expect that any who broke that silence would have some actual evidence to offer.
