More Tebow

Tebow's Super Bowl ad is being funded by an organization that rakes in millions by promoting bigotry, homophobia, and divisiveness? Should we to assume that Tebow also shares those same values?

[sarcasm]Maybe Tebow's pretty stoked that his mom didn't abort him when she could have, and that he's the most famous college QB in the country about to be drafted into the NFL and wants to advertise the idea that he's happy about that decision?[/sarcasm]

Isn't the idea of "liberal forward thinking" to allow all sorts of ideas, or is it only to call them names when they're not the same ideas as yours?

(edit: I probably just tanked this thread)

This thread was supposed to be about his attempt to transition into a NFL quaterback.
Let's continue that, then. While I don't really care either way, I find the general opinion of him going from hero to failure fascinating. I won't be glued to the reports, but i'll be interested to hear the scouting reports, watch the draft and see how he ends up. There are numerous Round 1 picks that have apparently flopped, so maybe the consensus on Tebow's impending Titanic-like failure is wrong.

Stafford is not a bust - he got drafted by the Lions. If you really like Tebow, you wouldn't mention him in the same post with JaMarcus Russell.:D

I never said Stafford was a bust, I said Russell was. And watching those two play at UGA & LSU, many of us down here in SEC land knew that those two should have never been drafted where they were. Stafford loves to throw pics and Russell, well, ...where do ya start with him? He should be playing in Canada or something, he's awful.

He plays for the Raiders. By definition, no matter how good he was, he'll suck. If Brady or either Manning played in Oakland, they'd pick up maybe 6 win seasons.

As far as Tebow is concerned, I don't think I have ever seen a report that he was thought of highly as an NFL QB prospect, but Gator fans on the Jags mesage boards are always clamoring for him like he's the second coming.

Actually, this is the perfect analogy to be made of the Tebow situation!

Russell has all the tools to be a very good pro QB- except apparently the willingness to work on his preparation. There are few young QB's in the NFL w/ Russell's arm and physical size, but its been painfully obvious to all involved that he simply has no desire to do more than wear expensive jewelry and bad haircuts when he is off the field. He got a fat contract and has no desire to become anything more than a wealthy man... hope he saves some of that money- its doubtful he'll ever see another contract :rollno:

Tebow has some of the same tools, but more importantly he seems to have the desire to do more than become wealthy. While he could fail miserably, much of that will depend on getting the instruction to help him learn what he didnt at Florida. If in fact he is to be used as an H back or tight end, then he may end up doing well at that- all depends on him.... but, at least it appears that he will be willing to work to improve based solely on attitude

I had some very similar thoughts on this last night. Russell is a bust because he doesn't seem to want to put in the effort. Tebow seems more than willing to do what is necessary.

Not taking snaps from under center is a problem. Tebow sometimes lowers the ball to his left hip like he's throwing a baseball. Even Tebow's evolving compact throwing motion takes too long. He makes Leftwich look like Marino.

On the other hand, the kid is supposed to have a heck of a work ethic, so perhaps he can adjust.

I'll have to see the ad to make a judgment on it. Tebow does have a unique birth story.

While FOTF isn't my bag, I think you're taking things too far. They aren't the Taliban.

Weurffel had a heck of a work ethic too, and he went absolutely nowhere in the NFL.
