I saw that Yahoo story. As a Gators fan and a huge fan of Tebow, I know I'm biased--but the headline is pretty dramatic, given the quotes within the story from named sources and the fact that it was only the first day of practice. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him, he's a great kid.
He'll get drafted, but as a TE/H-back, not a QB.

I don't have anything against Tebow, but the last year's constant media sucking-up has been really ridiculous. But it's not him, it's the attention others have directed at him. The new thing that REALLY gets me is that he's going to do that Super Bowl ad for the right-wingers (I intensely dislike the specific group he will represent.)
I'm sure he'll get a pro contract, and I'm idly interested in seeing at what position.

The media spent four years building Tebow up, now it's time to tear him down. Normal cyclical behavior in todays media.

+1. Pretty much sums it up for me. Though as a Dawg fan, I hate UF, so some of that bleeds over. The media buttkissing hasn't helped though. Gotta agree with MJ5150 on that being typical media behavior.
I haven't heard about the ad, but judging from your vague description, I'm guessing it won't improve my opinion of him.
I agree that it is kind of interesting how many Heisman-winning QBs can't cut it in the pros though.
I won't comment on the advertisement itself, but while reading an article, one side was quoted as saying something to the effect of how airing the ad goes against the idea that sports unite people. I chuckled. While sports certainly aren't designed to divide folks, that's kinda what they do, with the climax of the events being the crowning of a winner and the never ending dissection of the loser.
Hell, I can't think of a better place for political ads than a sporting event. Some Sox fans might get lucky and find common ground with their crosstown rivals. In that respect, Tim Tebow's ad unites people. He should be thanked. With a Heisman.

I think whoever drafts him will get a bargain for a mid-round pick.
As for the commerical, I don't necessarily agree with the stance he's chosen, but I do think the young man is using his popularity and fame for a principle he truly believes in, which I feel is an admirable thing in this day and age. He's probably already lost millions in endorsements for publicly espousing his views, but it seems Tebow's desire to stand up for what he believes in trumps his desire for wealth.

) I'm pretty sure I know what your issue is with him. But I don't believe, prior to this new ad coming out (and I do not agree with its viewpoint), that he has pushed his views more than a number of other athletes--he just happens to get more exposure. And you have to admit, it ain't just talk with him. He walks the walk with the huge amount of charity work he does each year.

As for the ad, I cannot stand the group he's speaking for and needless to say their side of the issue is opposite mine. I honestly don't get why they're running that sort of ad during the Superbowl other than to get people talking about them and getting their name out.
If you read the interview with Tim and his mother about the ad, he explains why he chose to do the ad. And the organization didn't fund it, they only organized it.

I find that if he wants to publicly support a cause (which this ad really isn't about, but all the liberal jaw flappers say it is), then I see absolutely no problem with it. The law doesn't prevent the opposition from doing the same in response. It's merely a matter of funding and finding the right network to air it.

From what I understand the add is strictly a positive message (choose life). And doesn't suggest any political action. Supposedly, most on the other side (pro-choice) claim they feel that abortion is a bad act but that the option should be allowed. The add goes to that issue, and its long term consequences (from everything I've read). IF you're really about choice you should be cheering the add.
That's an incredibly biased statement. It may not be popular to promote Christian moral values, but standing for what is good, is good, and standing for what is evil, is evil.
