I just got a sterling stingray 34 and I get a bunch of low end from it but it is still slapable which I love. I love the feel of and look of my old mim Jazz. What can I do to get the same amount of low end from it? Any tips, mods, etc?

Slam in a John East pre-amp like the Uni-Pre.
Replace the pickups with John Benson pu's, that's what I did one my Player Series and bang, that was what I had been waiting for.
If you are used to a Ray then the solution might be a good preamp? I was chatting to a bassist last year who took his beater MIM Jazz and stuck an East preamp in it. That bass became his main gigging instrument.

I put a Seymour Duncan Stack in the neck position of my '05 60s CIJ Jazz, I also run it through a DOD bi-fet preamp pedal.
A lot of people use SansAmp products to beef up a jazz (and other basses).
DiMarzio Model J's will fatten up a Jazz nicely. More beef in the low mids for sure. But if you're looking for an "active" sound then yeah, any number of out-or-onboard pres will get you there. Alternatively, if you want still the classic J sound, but more umph and EQ control(excellent sounding EQ on it to boost the lows as you say), the Xotic RC is totally a winner. Amazing unit. Can use it on your Ray too--could be nifty (though most folks use it on passive basses).
The MM has an active preamp - drop one in the jazz, and voila. Never be exactly the same, but gets you in the ballpark.
I installed Duncan Vintage '62 pups in mine years ago, but they don't make them anymore. They were a definite improvement over the stock MIM pups.
I had a Fender Jazz that had the S1 switch in it, and I loved it. I ended up selling that bass because I got GAS. Just got a G&L Jazz and Im looking into having my guy wire it in series like the Fender. It did give it way more "oomph".
Series mod. Technically is not more low end, but it gives a bulge to the sound it doesn't have in regular config. Since doing the mod, I think I run the bass in series 95% of the time.

I replaced the stock pickups in my MIA Jazz with Linday Fralin, over wound 8%. It gives me more lows and mids and I can still get a bright sound as well.
Model J / Monel 77 = thumpy

Model J pups have ceramic mags , which usually means a louder pickup ..
Monel 77 flats are made by Rotosound ... with a unique flat wire wrap of ' monel 400 ' wire/tape , which is an alloy of nickel/copper ... full warm sound , OK feel

The ultimate solution may be, and I've seen someone here actually do it , to replace the bridge pup with a MM style unit. Without getting into routing, there are some j pups made by Delano and possibly others with huge pole pieces directly under the strings. Having a pole pieces directly under the string does actually have an influence in the responsiveness of the instrument. I didn't appreciate this until I bought the scpb om the left of my avatar.
