MORTRIX MIDI foot controller

I regretted not submitting something clever in the off chance of getting a free unit.

I now know I had no chance! :)
it wasn’t easy. This took me weeks of churning out ideas to come up with and was suggestion 888 out of 890! I went a bit mad.

There’s still a giveaway though. Sign up to the mailing list via the website for details.

I think I see one of these I my future- ever since getting into the Roland guitar synth world (GR-55, and now SY-1000) I see the utility/need of having direct control of so many parameters on the fly (I want the SY1000 to feel more like an analog synth with knobs I can reach down and tweak) and having built in MIDI sequencers will be huge as well. Love my Morningstar controller for regular MIDI control but this thing is on a different level. Can’t wait for the release!

Diving deep into all the information out for this at the minute, and it has my head buzzing with ideas.
In particular that expansion port slot is very intriguing...

Hypothetically is it possible there could be an expansion that has facility for an audio input (and thru, with a tasty buffer perhaps) which could then use audio to trigger envelopes or other midi messages when audio crosses a threshold perhaps? Or other envelope follower type behaviour, with audio level scaling midi messages, LFO's (e.g. LFO depth or speed)...etc.

Perhaps a total daydream, but it's one I've had for well over a decade.

Way ahead of you there. :) This is an idea I’ve been touting around various pedal builders for years. Olivier from Glou Glou even got as far as doing a mock-up back in 2017/18.

My motivation was to be able to use a volume-threshold-triggered ADSR from my bass (with octave and fuzz) to sweep something like a Moog MF-101.

It was one of the first things I put to Morten when @GisserD put us in touch with each other. At first I’d thought of it as something separate but as soon it became obvious that we’d put envelopes in Mortrix I asked to get this functionality built in. Audio wasn’t something Morten planned for the main unit so it was raised as a possibility for an expansion.

I have lots of ideas of how to trigger the envelopes from an external device and harness them to control external devices.

It would be criminal to not have those amazingly powerful envelopes be able to be put to use like this.

Amazing! I was hoping that may be something you had up your sleeves.
I have similarly spent much of the last 10 years or so asking various builders if it was something they could make, but have mostly ended up with complex configurations involving eurorack modules, the copilot fx autodialer, and various other units.

Excited to get an order in!

It’s not in the works yet but it’s something we’ve discussed and is doable and I’ll be pushing hard to get it made. Still need to get the main unit out first.
