Mosquitoes management...

Yeah, I was working in the lower keys for the last quarter of '17 and one of my client's properties was all torn up from the storm. The noseeums ate me up. A thorough application of skin so soft mixed with alcohol kept em at bay, but I don't know how it works on guitar finishes.
I can vouch for this stuff. It can get very hard to find here in south Georgia because it really works. Smells pretty good too.

I think your best bet is DEET. I'm not sure why the hesitancy about the stuff. I never understand why there is a fear of a single man made chemical that is repeatedly proven to be safe and effective, but using a more natural product like skin so soft which has plenty of man made chemicals including a mosquito repellent is more okay. I use OFF Deep Woods. It greatly reduces my bites when I'm outside for hours.

I was born and raised in East Texas, not far at all from where the SWAMP PEOPLE TV show was filmed: I know about mosquitoes. One trick you can use is if you're using something that easily washes out of your clothes, instead of hosing your skin down, just use a little on the exposed meat and then spray your clothes to make a stronger case against them. I always stick with a commercial product with DEET and I'm good.
Mosquitoes by far are the deadliest creature on Earth, can carry really ugly illnesses, so don't mess around: Meningitis, Encephalitis, or West Nile Virus can really wreck your day. And they can get to your four-legged friends as well, livestock and wild animals, too.
I'm not that crazy about some of the chemistry involved (no, ain't gonna drink it), but I'll settle for a very occasional exposure vs. the dangers these insects can bring.

I have Zika. It's kicking my ass. I look like a zombie, my eyes are totally bugged out. If I do any physical activity I get a fever and dizzy. I sleep 10-12 hours a day. It's been about 5 days, I can look forward to another 5 or so. I highly recommend wearing repellent if there are mosquitoes. The diseases you can get from mosquitoes are no joke.
I am all about the DEET and whatever other crazy toxic chemical works, as long as it keeps the bugs off. I tell my friends that I despise the summer; from the minute the temperature gets above 50°F to the first frost I am covered from head to toe in bug bites. I don't need Zika, SARS, West Nile, Malaria, Lyme Disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, or any of that BS you get from bug bites. Scratching until the bites bleed all day is the usual punishment I get for living somewhere other than Antarctica.
We don't do a lot of outdoor shows, but I would wear a lightweight long sleeve shirt and pants (because NO SHORTS, amarite?) and treat myself to bug repellant, avoiding the palms of my hands and the forearm area that touches the bass. Fans are great, too, and not just for the bugs. It's nice to have one at any gig where it gets warm.
ETA, anyone know what the music scene is like in Antarctica? Might be worth a move...

Try burning Citronella candles. Place a few of them around your stage...
Haven't gigged there myself, but I hear it's heating up...
I also use a fan on the patio to keep mosquitoes down.
I’ve got a shirt and bandanna that are infused with permethrin, that are okay for keeping mosquitoes away, although not as effective as spray.

How about lots of pyrotechnics! Burn them all I say!

Deet..100%. Wash your hands after application to prevent issues with your finish.
Just a couple of warnings, there has been some studies showing there may be some heath issues caused by use of Deet, but, Nile virus and Malaria are also health hazards too. The other is if you are sweating and it runs in your eyes along with deet, it will burn. Other than that, it the best thing since sliced bread for warding off skeeters...
