Most Popular Bass Guitars

Out of curiosity, what are the most popular bass guitars? If someone just happens to know any statistics, can you please post them for me, in order preferably.

I know that the Fender Presicion Bass tops the list as the all-time most popular bass guitar, but what comes after that? I'd assume that the Fender Jazz Bass would be pretty high on the list, and possibly the Gibson Thunderbird?

warwicks and musicmans gotta be on that list. lol most people that want to play bass actually have kinda idea about the instruments they will be playing cause if they didnt they would be guitarist

I don't think the Gibson basses are that popular (the Les Paul guitar is a totally different story). I'd put Rickenbackers on top of them, but Fender and Music Man are the most talked about, for sure.

No I know for a fact that the Fender Precision is the all-time most popular, that's not debateable (it was, after all, the first). Well, it kind of is debateable...like, I don't know how popular the modern incarnation is, or if that "most popular" statistic takes into account the past models, some of which which looks almost nothing like the current one.

There is a Les Paul bass. It's not very popular.

I just meant that I think more people own jazzes as opposed to precisions. I thought that is how it was anyway.

I think we'd all like a Fodera or Alembic but price is a pusher that makes those not overlly popular in the sense that not everyone buys them

What Demon means that if the Les Paul as a guitar were the same as it is as a bass, it'd be number one. Basically, Les Pauls are most popular guitars, is what he means.

P bass would be number one. I'm not sure about about the rest. RICs have to be pretty high up there. As are Stingrays. Pretty much something with an iconic look to it scores pretty well, I think.

Just look on Talkbass. Jazzes are more popular than the precision. You can buy about 20 different boutique jazz basses, it's nutz.
