You missed the point. The OP wanted to take a bass to work and leave it in his car so he could practice in the car at lunch. Put your soapbox away. Basses are made of wood and steel. They are not artifacts. They are tools. I leave me tools in my truck all the time. And they're fine. Lighten up.
Not a soapbox just don't understand why leaving it in the car is better 24/7 than taking it to and from each time. I have no problem leaving speakers, amps, cables,etc in cars. The issue I see is leaving an instrument that relies on consistent tension to maintain tuning and intonation in an environment such as that. He will spend more time tuning and fixing the neck than practicing, and if not the practice won't be worth much otherwise.
