Motorcycle Bass Rig

I ve been using my Suzuki DR350 (modified to 400cc,and its more like a motocross bike with the additional mods all around) going to gigs, rehersals etc.I havent managed to carry my ebs neo112 yet,but it doesnt seem that difficult to make a solid frame just behind the seat,so I could hook the cab securely,I carry the bass on my shoulder on my back but I make sure it sits on the seat, also I use an additional strap securing it on the waist level. My amp is acoustic image focus sa power amp, which has its own little bag,I just let it sit on the tank hanging over my shoulder.
I would say, scooters are best for carrying stuff around.but in anycase you need to install a strong frame to carry the cab, also it would be a good idea to get a softcase for the cab to protect it from the weather etc. good luck

That looks really nice. Any experience with this and an EBG?

That acoustic image combo wont work for electric bass... too small.

Lies! :p. I've used an Acoustic Image Coda combo amp for over a year now as my main amp. With electric and acoustic basses. It may be small at about 20lbs, but it pushes 400W (500W with the extension cab) through a 10" speaker on the bottom and the midrange driver on the face. I mostly use it for theatre work, but I've used it with a Rock band too and it does just fine. Plenty of volume for me, and it just sounds great. Plus the handles are built into the molded enclosure. Super easy to carry around at length with one hand. You could probably work out some way to have it sit in your lap on the bike, and just put a strap through the handles and around your midsection to hold it in place.

I also have a Phil Jones Briefcase. Not nearly as loud or powerful (100W), and it's heavier than the Acoustic Image. Sounds great, and can be battery powered (which is very cool!), but I wouldn't gig with it in a band setting, unless it was a quiet jazz or acoustic thing...

See, that's what I thought!!! The SPL rating on this thing is HUGE!!! It's gotta produce. Is there any chance you have a live room recording of playing through one of these with a drummer and guitar or two?

I suppose in the end, I could take the ear pieces off my favorite headphones and stick one of these on each side. Should be loud enough then, huh???

Well, if it works for you, power to ya.

If you are playing coffee shop volume levels then I could see it working. Personally, I would find myself buried, or just too thin sounding in a rock band mix.

BTW, I love your youtube stuff and listen to it quite often. Excellent tone and musicianship. :)

Have you played through one? They're suprisingly powerful. Not much different than a more standard 500W, 2x10 rig. :)

Oh, so each cab has a down firing 10" driver plus the front firing drivers? Then I could see it working. I looked at those small front firing speakers and thought it would be unlikely to go very loud.

Acoustic Image does make great stuff. One of my first amps was a S1 Clarus and later I used a Focus SA poweramp for awhile. Great gear.

Yep, that's it. The little speaker on the front (5") is just the midrange driver. Plus the 10" downfiring main driver, and a tweeter.

Plus, I just checked the Acoustic Image website, and OMG! They've got new products. Including a new 800W Coda Combo with a removeable head

Hmmm... I love AI gear ( I have a Focus 1 as my main amp). I've also played in a lot of rock bands and I personally don't think the AI combo's will work in that environment. I can see that poor down-firing 10" getting fried as it struggles to keep up with the SPL generated by the rest of the band. Sorry, I know that's not what you want to hear.

I have used a cargo net to secure an Ampeg BA115 on the passenger seat, and slipped a gig bag onto my shoulders. Everything I need fits in the gig bag, and I have taken my motorcycle to more than just one or two gigs. :) Today, I would think the BA112 would work as well.
