Moving an Amp or Cabinet - Face-Up or Face-Down

do you think that the speakers can undergo more harsh treatment from a ride in a vehicle than during a 45 mimnute+ non-stop pounding during a gig?
I say it doesn't matter; up, down, sideways....whatever.

IMO, playing thru them is more taxing on them than moving them. unless you're moving them in the rain, or the speaker cones are exposed to high winds.

When I load up my bass amp, my main concern is that it's oriented so that, if something falls over, nothing will be damaged. I've never had a speaker failure on a bass amp, and I've never heard of anyone complaining that they hauled their amp with the speaker facing up or down and got to the gig and it didn't work.

That's NEVER. I notice no one else has offered even third-hand anecdotal evidence of it ever happening.

I mostly transport SVTs and I usually lie them on their side. Actually makes a good bench seat in the chev van too
When transporting 2, I lay on side and face each other

I've heard drivers can be hurt by being transported lying down, but I don't believe it. Even in the unlikely event that the cones receive a sufficient jolt to make them over travel, there is no force behind it but the inertia of the paper cone. I can't see them being that fragile.

What about the speakers in the rear deck of a car? My car is a 95 and still has the stock speakers, they've been laying down now for almost 15 years and doing fine.

Agreed ... i usually wedge my cabs wherever there is room. I would def. use more caution w/ a cloth grill though

If I'm moving it, it stands up straight on the back seat with seat belt, or on its face in the trunk with something protecting the back; if shippers/movers do it I can't tell how its sitting once it's in their truck. None of mine have been damaged in either method.

I generally lay them sideways grill to grill when possible, If they are in the back of my pickup I lie them face down on a blanket... I am more concerned with wind damage to the speakers than anything.
