Mpcx???? Is this the ultimate groove device

ive. Been away from recording for a while.

Currently using a Tascam neo 2488
I’ve been using this since 2010
I’ve always preferred the tactile hands on feel of hard disc recorders

But what I do miss
More
Were the days of old school sequencing.

My first rig was a rx21 drum machine
And a two track sequencer also from Yamaha.

The songs I put together with this thing.

I have yet to get anything like it

And now I’m seeing this mpcx
And wondering about the possibilities of
Sampling and seqeuencing
Bass lines guitar tracks
And keyboard lines.


I’ve resisted drum machines
Opting to try playing my own drum beats but
I’m simply not tight enough to keep the groove locked.
And I am not seeming to be able to put the time in on the drum set to be a drummer with the goods to keep the groove
Locked to today’s metronomic /clicktrack standard

So I need help in the rhythm department.

The Mpcx along with it’s software

May be just the thing this returning
Song writer producer arranger
Needs to bring my music craft into the 21 century

I never took to protools

And if I’m going to be serious I think that it’s time to do something radically different.


There’s no question here
I’m just wondering out loud
To others who may be pondering similar ideas

Wow - that’s a pretty cool piece of kit. I’ve been using software drummers for the last many years so lost track of what’s out there in the hardware world.

I suppose if you have no interest in software tools (not necessarily in protools or other DAW), this is good alternative. Pricey, tho.

Yeah I think I will go ahead and get it
I don’t want to give up the drumming though. There is something very magical about live feel.

Mpc’s have a swing feature
Which helps make it sound more natural
In anY event a move will be made one way or the other

I have the MPC live - the smaller version of the MPC-x. I go with AND I on this one: steep learning curve. If you don't want to invest a lot of time and really master the machine, you shouldn't buy it. Maybe buy a used MPC studio first and get into the concept. It needs a computer to work but the workflow and functionality is very similar.
