Hi there. I'm a long time guitar player (23 years) and have played bass a handful of times in my life. Recently, I was asked to play bass at church and have decided to really dive in! I have a 88-89 MIJ Jazz Bass on "long-term loan" from a previous church (the worship director loaned it saying that nobody except me ever uses it), and I played my first service with it yesterday!
I went back to school for music 2019-2022, and have a much better understanding and appreciation for the role bass plays in most music I listen to!
Hoping to really go deep with this (no pun intended!). I think, in the end, I would like to get a P-bass. I'll come to the realization that my favorite sounds are in this vein, though I've had good success on the Jazz by turning the bridge pick up all the way down and the tone all the way down.
I have a set of LaBella low tension flats arriving tomorrow, along with a black pearloid pickguard as I think that is a classy look on the black body.
I know I've derived much information and satisfaction from sites like The Gear Page, and I'm looking forward to learning from you guys as well!
I've attached a picture of my bass, though I haven't figured out a good name just yet (yeah, I'm one of those guys). Maybe Gojira!!!
