MTD JJV/ Saratoga 5

I think this bass is wicked and I was wondering if anybody owns this bass and sound clips. Give me your thoughts on it.

here are some pics, not mine

I don't have that particular bass, but I have one of the prototypes that is essentially the same thing.

It has a nice full tone. Some will call the tone compressed however, I don't think it's compressed as much as I think it sits in a rather specific tonal area and doesn't have quite the dynamic range that the American line has.

Definitely a Mike T take on the J bass, and I like it!

are these not made in America?

No, they are made in the USA by Mike T himself.

I think the "Saratoga" name is throwing everyone which at one time was synonymous with being made over-seas.

So the story goes, Mike had to pay a fee to keep the Saratoga name going, so he decided to call the JJ5 the "Saratoga."
Yeah, I have a Saratoga 5 - MIK. Love it! I guess they are similar since they are both Tobias representations of the Jazz bass.
