MTD serial numbers..do they mean anything???

Hello,

I'm in the market for a foreign MTD and wondered if there was a pattern or consistancy with the serial numbers. I've come across a few that start with either 04, 06, or 08 and all are being sold as brand new. I wasn't sure if 04 meant it was built in 04 etc. Can anyone shed light on this?

Waiting on reply from Micheal Tobias. I bought a used 6 string MTD. It only has MTD on the front and serial number, made in Korea on back of headstock. Came with Aguilar preamp and what looks like Norstrand pickups. MTD KZ6 is closest I’ve found used on reverb, no other specs so far online.
