Mudbucker install

Right! Just got a mudbucker pickup and going to install it in to a P bass. Just wondered if anyone had installed one? Or is there some instructions somewhere?

Depends on what you want it to do. You can wire it series, parallel, put in a switch to flip between the two and also wire a switch run it as a single coil (tap).

Normal would be in series. Many makers use differing wire colors. What do you have? A pic of the back will help.

You could take the Billy Sheehan approach and wire the mudbucker to it's own volume, tone and output jack. Oh, and you'll need a steak knife for the routing.

While the term “mudbucker” originally referred to the chunky and massively overwound sidewinder in Gibson basses of the 60s, many people use the term to refer to any large rectangular pickup. What you actually have matters. Sidewinder? DiMarzio DP120? Fender WRHB? The answer to that will determine what advice we can give.
