Muddy low G

I'm playing through my ampeg b4 and I'm playing my Ibanez BTB 400 Bass and when I hit the low G and in that range, its a little muddy. The mids to higher ends sound fine. I tried pulling the bass all the way back and tried adjusting the mids as well, same thing.
Lowering the volume it kind of goes away but as soon as I raise the volume I get it again. Wondering if its the speaker or what? It doesn't sound like your typical blown speaker. Has anyone experienced anything like this. My other amp is being repaired so couldn't change out amps to see if it happens through that one. Any help is appreciated, thanx.

How is your action?

I was having an issue with the Jazz that I play at my wife's church - the E & G were too low/close to the pickup and the A & D were too high/far, resulting in a huge difference in output between two in the middle and two on the top/bottom.

So, took it home, raised a couple, lowered a couple - plays great now. Very even output on all strings.

Play with the pickup height and see if it goes away.
