Multi effect pedal vs. single effect pedals

I was a multifx guy long time ago. Multifx are (sometimes) the cheapest way to explore different soundscapes and learn what fx do you want/need and what of them don't. One you know what you want, you can go for single pedals if you want...They are usefull tools if you play in several bands whit several different tones and needs

I own a Boss ME50B (it was a christmas gift from my ex-wife and it's stored in a closet in my home) , a Zoom B1on (great as a practice tool/headphone amp..which I use the most) and a Zoom MS60B (the one I use live and it's in my rehearsal place)

In live situation my signal goes to a line 6 G30,then to the Zoom MS60B (I use it as tuner/flanger) , to my Sansamp Bass Driver Deluxe (my main tone comes from this pream) and finally FOH and to whatever the venue has (just for stage monitor purposes) .. I only load in my bass amp when there's no bass amp or decent monitor system in the venue.

As you can see I use a mix between an analog single pedal and a digital multifx ...

Experience will tell you what your needs are

I posted a little missive on this a few months ago. Quoting myself might be bougie but it's relevant to the OP's interests:

As a guy who has been back and forth between individual pedals and multieffects units a few times, I can tell you the following tends to happen:
- I don't need all these individual pieces, I can just get one unit that does all I want/need!
- Look, this one has 467 different effects and a tuner and metronome and makes toast and is only 200 bucks!
- Bye bye big expensive heavy board, hello convenience!
{....some amount of time passes...}
- Oooo that new fuzz from Buttnugget Effects looks killer...
- Aw maaaan my multiFX is awesome except for this ONE effect type that I really want...
- Well if I'm going to have the fuzz separate and the other special thing separate as it is, why do I even HAVE this all in one thing???
- Bye bye jack of all trades but master of only a couple, helloooo individual endlessly-reconfigurable stompbox glory; oh how I've missed you!

ANNNND REPEAT.

That is just exactly me !!! I'm so happy to not be the only bipolar with effects.. :D
