Multi-effects unit - why not?

I've had a korg ax3000b and I would say it's an awesome multi-effects processor. it's got a large variety of effects, amp and cab models. If you're wondering how it sounds, I have sound samples of the korg ax3000b on my soundclick website. here's the link.

For me the M9/M13 are close to the perfect multi-effects unit. You don't have to deal with deep menus, you "program" like you would a real stomp box, just turn the knobs. It blends the benefits of the digital realm and the physical realm. The effects are really good which is an obvious plus. The only thing holding it back from being perfect is the lack of a few effects that I would like to have for bass. A dedicated bass compressor, maybe a better auto-wah, a sans amp, the bass synth from the lowdown series, the bronzemaster and a Submarine model.

What would be absolutely killer is if you could buy effects developed by others in an iTunes like store.

don't know about the AX300b, but i sometimes use the AX3000G, and although it's technically designed for guitar, i am very happy with it. The distortions kinda blow, but everything else sounds great. I just use individual comp and distortion pedals running into it. It has some great effects like ring mod and drone notes that you don't normally find, polyphonic pitch shifting, reverse delay, freeze mode, you name it. and with the expression pedal and the "expression step sequencer" the functionality is really something else. plus it's easy as hell to program, and i've seen used ones sell as low as $175.

so, when coupled with some specific pedals that you like the sound of, and maybe a true-bypass looper or the fx loop in your amp, i would say it's golden.
