Multi-track multi channel looper

Hey all,

I don't know the exact terminology I should use, but I'm looking for a single loop pedal (not a massive station) that can do multiple tracks on multiple channels all on the same "loop".

Currently I run a two channel setup with an ABY pedal splitting my signal into a "guitar chain" and a bass chain. The bass chain goes to a Ditto X2 and into the bass amp, and the guitar chain goes into a Ditto Looper then into a guitar amp.

Right now when I layer bass on top of "guitar" I've got to absolutely NAIL the loops because I've got two separate loopers running.

Is there a single pedal that has multiple channels (2 in, 2 out) that could work for me?

Ideal signal chain would be bass into modulation pedals, then into ABY pedal, then guitar signal into octave pedal, into guitar dirt, then into one of the input channels of the looper, then out of the looper into the guitar amp, while the bass output from the ABY pedal goes through the bass effects, then into the looper, then out and into the bass amp.

Does that make sense?

Pigtronix Infinity 3 looks like it fits the bill.

I'm not sure I 100% understand the question but Singular Sound Aeros is maybe another option. Not tiny but not one of the huge Boss workstations, stereo inputs and outputs, multiple tracks.

He wants two ins, two outs but the ability to more easily sync loops from the two seperate inputs together rather than using two non-syncable loopers.

You have an Aeros, don't you? I like the idea of having a visual waveform like in a DAW, seems like it would make keeping track of loops a lot easier.

Like I said, I wasn't 100% sure I understood the question. I didn't know if the stereo ins and outs could accomplished what was being asked, but I think I get it now. My bad.

I have an Aeros, I like it a lot for integration with my Beat Buddy. The other things it can do are overkill for me and it still needs to fully mature with regard to the firmware and MIDI. I do love having the waveform visible.

I'm still looking. One thing that kinda confuses me is things like the Ditto X4 that have two channels, but only one stop button. What if you just want to stop one or the other channel?

With the Ditto, you double tap the loop switch and it'll stop the individual loop. Alternatively, with the Boomerang III, you just tap the loop button once and it'll stop. Much more intuitive imo.

I had one of these and never figured it all out but the manual is available online and will help you. I'm pretty sure you can mute/pause either channel. The Stop kills all looping.
The X4 MIDI sync is nice. I used it with a drum machine and kept the drums and guitars in perfect sync.

I'm happy with the venerable boss rc30. 2 channels, easy to use.

All 3 of the Pigtronix Infinity loopers have stereo inputs and dual sync-able loops that you can use and you can send each to their own loop (at least o the original Infinity). The Boomerang III probably has the most configurability and 4 separate sync-able loops- really the biggest downside of the Boomerang is lack of permanent internal storage (you lose the loops every time you unplug the looper, vs most other loopers these days that have permanent SD storage)

Bump for still looking for a looper solution. The Ditto X4 appears to only be single channel. I am not sure if the stereo/mono in and out can be run as a two channel looper. Additionally both the X4 and the Pigtronix only have 1 stop button. Ideally I would like to have two stop buttons, one for each channel...

In order to have synced loops you don't need to be able to fully split your inputs to separate loops unless you are planning to record signal onto both channels simultaneously. When you are only sending signal through one channel at a time, the other channel of that particular stereo loop will effectively be recording "silence" so it is not a problem. Since the Ditto x4 has stereo ins/outs you should be fine- just choose Loop 1 for guitar, Loop 2 for bass (or whatever) and using your AB switch you will have the same outcome as a looper than can independently split channel 1 to loop 1 and channel 2 to loop 2. The fact that it is recording silence onto the other side of the stereo signal on each loop is inconsequential as long as your signal isn't noisy going into it.

A swift look at the Ditto x4 manual shows that each loop can be stopped independently by double tapping that loop's footswitch. Similarly the original Pigtronix Infinity has separate control switches for both channels that act to "arm" each channel for actions (so it can be configured so that pressing "Stop" will only stop whichever channel is armed for actions, either one or both, at any time). The Boomerang looper also can do any of this, and most other things you might want from a pedal looper except to hold loops in memory.
