Multiple Spector Owners

I've got a Spector Euro and I'm looking to pick up another. I'm thinking of dropping a set of tapewounds on the second to give me a little variation, but I'm also headed toward the idea of only playing Spectors. The PJ pup combo is my favorite pup set of anything I've ever played, so that's where I'm at.

Different wood combos on the same model type? What types of wood are you using?

Maybe the answer is to trade one? :ninja:

I'm only teasing. I could see an alt tuned Spector being gigged equally as much as the other, but the third, is it just a backup and does anyone ever find they need their backup. I almost never take a back up bass to a gig as I have never run into trouble throughout the years and rarely do I change tuning.

I always take a backup because you never know. The one time I actually needed it was because the battery died in my main bass. Come to think of it, I've needed a back up twice. The nut on my Jackson Concert bass broke off at the g string.

I just sold my backup just for that reason: it never got used. I wish I could find one that sounds and plays like my main bass, then I'd get another for sure.

I just read a post where a guy was going out on his first tour and asked about taking a backup. All the guys who've toured said no. It really suprised me. That said, it was 3 bands touring together, so he could borrow another bass was the thinking.

I have a Euro4 (I think-PJ never really said). It's solid maple wings from 2002 maybe early 2003 and has a Tonepump, serial number NB31xx.

So, in essence it's a CRFM, but like PJ said,
"remember the model number became a
>> model name over the years, and also we changed a few specs but not always at the time of name change...!?!?! :)"

Anyway, it's the best Spector I've ever played and would love to find a twin to it. Hard to do by buying online! I've had several Spectors (including American ones) and this one just plays perfect to me.

Yeah, the Euro4 that I have now kills. Its got a set of High Beams on it right now. The more I play with the TonePump, the more I like it. My old NS had a Hazlab copy, and I loved that tone, but talk about the richness of the bass with the TP.

If I end up with another Euro, I plan to put on a set of tapewounds, maybe the LaBella tapewounds. I'd like to see the power behind the TP with the tone of tapewounds.
