Multiscale question.

Help save a brotha some money? Owning a dingwall it's been a slight pain over the years obtaining strings at certain gauges. Now I'm finally getting another MS bit it's a 4 string ns dimension and the E is listed at 36" AFAIK. Would some daddarios fit or will the taper sit across the nut?
Seems there's a new development in regarding the use of D'Addario strings on multi-scale with 37" low-B. Ibanez has just announced their 2022 line of basses, which includes 3 new multi-scales with 37" low-B, of which the factory strings mentioned on the web pages are D'Addario NYXL45130 for 37" on the 5 string models and NYXL30130 for 37" on the 6 string model.

These logically could also be used on Dingwall's.

Interesting. Years back I was in messages with daddario and I was told that some people were talking about it up there but you never know what goes on with that

So, most likely it's coming up as the NYXL For 37"s . Though, still no info when are these NYXL For 37"s going to be available in regular market... not only through OEM channels.

On their website the taper seems to be ending a bit short:
  • These strings are designed for long scale basses (34”+) and have a taper at 36 – 7/8”

and on some pictures on the Ibanez website it looks like the B and E strings are not tapered over the saddles, so a bit different than Dingwall or payson strings (and may require shorter saddle screws for AB Dingwalls. But let’s hope - in any case that should be good for diversity.

Ah, yeah, about the taper at the ball end side... hopefully D'Addario practices it's usual way of making 2 versions of its heavier gauge strings (normal and taperwound).

And, no, the NYXL's that I was referring to (the NYXL For 37"s) aren't the Super Long scale which specs available on D'Addario website.
