it's actually fascinating, that my band has a song that the main melody is 2 notes off of some other band, well established, that we had never heard of before was showed that it was the same melody.
It's creepy when that happens. And kinda sucky, because WE came up with that melody!

OT but it is a different melody. It could be one note off. Still different.
You did come up with it, nothing to get flustered about.
