There are multiple threads that say the original driver was an EVM15. Also the Kappalite 3015 seems to be the most recommended replacement driver. Google and read through the threads yourself.

I don't think you should expect a lot of low bass from this cab.

Measure the INTERIOR dimensions of the cab and all vents/ports and then call these guys.

https://usspeaker.com/homepage-1.htm

They will run your dimensions through software and give you several options based on your volume/tone goals and budget. They are awesome to work with.
called AL, and ran the numbers, got a couple Eminence Legend CB15 8 ohm 300 watt, 600 musical. i only have one cab right now, but this cab and speaker are killing it so far, . i will get second cab tomorrow and i already have the speaker!

I thought I would resurrect this thread to share my experience with anybody searching for a good speaker replacement for these cabs in the future.

I have run a pair of these with my sunn 2000s for over a decade, have tried tons of speakers over the years. Including EVs, black widdows, JBL k140,kapa 3015 (nonLF), the legend CB 15s as Recomended above, All sounded pretty good in these boxes. They are forgiving in that way.

I recently downsized to just 1 cab and loaded it with a faital speaker that was really not doing it for me. Swapped in an eminence canabass CB3015n and this is by far my favorite speaker in this enclosure to date. Pairs fantastically with the 2000s. Plenty loud, can handle the power of the sunn withought farting out, very balanced across the spectrum with all the low end I need and enough high end but not too much. Mid forward and really brings out the best in the sunn, and makes for a super light weight cab. YMMV but I highly recommend this pairing to anybody trying to run one of these cabs.

Wanted to add that of all the other combinations. Running a pair of these cabs with the jbl k140s was a cut above. With just one cab the canabass is about as loud and goes a deeper in the low bass, I actually prefer it to the double jbl configuration.

Yes was a 15pr400
One of my all-time favorite drivers BUT the cabinet has to be tuned for it.

Dropping random drivers in a cabinets says. Othi g about the driver and everything about the matching (or mismatch).

Absolutely! Mine sounded great in a smaller slot ported 1x15 that is now home to one of the K140s. Just was not the right fit for the music man box. Sounded pretty sterile and lacked the low mid grunt that i was looking for, also had a bit too much top end for my taste. But definitely a perfectly passible choice if you have one lying around. And a fantastic driver in the right box.
