Music Man and Dunlop Strap Locks?

Well if that's what did yeah. It's been a couple years. I don't remember having to force anything so I'd say just give it a shot and see what happens.

Hello All:
Anyone here have Dunlops on their Music Man Stingray?

I was surprised when I found that the MM strap locks screws are slighty thicker and much longer than the Dunlop screws.

Is there a better way to do this than grinding down the heads of the MM screws to fit into the Dunlop strap button?

(Yes, it's my first Stingray.)

I just took the MM screws to the belt sander and rotating them around trimmed the outside diameter of the heads. Worked fine for me. They weren't THAT much bigger.

I put dunlop straplocks on 2 Bongos, a Sterling, and a Stingray and never had a problem. I'm a lucky guy I guess.

I actually LIKE the EB Strap Locks. Great for my Bongo.

Old thread I know , but I just brought some Dunlops home and found the supplied screw is heaps longer than my pre EB `78 Ray screws which as you guys probably know have a slightly larger head [ with only a slightly more tapered seat ] , so I machined 1/2 a mm off the MM Screws OD and refitted them with the Dunlops to avoid going into virgin material on my Ray . Job done !

I use the Ernie Ball Super Lock straplocks for all of my Music Man basses. Since they are made by the same company that makes the basses, all of the screws fit perfectly that come with the Super Locks.

If you just use one strap save yourself the money and get 2 stainless washers from the hardware store and you're done for less than a dollar! has worked for me for years.
