Music Man and Dunlop Strap Locks?

Hello All:
Anyone here have Dunlops on their Music Man Stingray?

I was surprised when I found that the MM strap locks screws are slighty thicker and much longer than the Dunlop screws.

Is there a better way to do this than grinding down the heads of the MM screws to fit into the Dunlop strap button?

(Yes, it's my first Stingray.)

I now prefer Dunlops, but back when I was playing Music Mans I had the same problem when switching over to the Schaller straplocks I was using at the time. As I recall, I used the Schaller screws by filling the existing screw holes with toothpicks and wood glue. Be careful not to use too much glue, you don't want it to spill out of the hole onto the finish of your bass. Give the glue some time to dry, and then the smaller screws should dig in just fine.

I had no trouble using Dunlops on my Stingray. But when i got my Bongos and put the Dunlops and the screw on the back of the body would not screw in properly and just spun....i just used plastic wood filler that matched the body of the wood and it fixed it fine

You could save yourself the headache just buy the EB Straplocks.

I use the Dunlop StrapLok's, they're actually really nice. Good for gigging on-stage.

I use and prefer Dunlops on my Rays. Toothpicks and a spot of glue and you're good to go.

I used the original screws from my Stingray, I just smoothly grinded the head to fit into the Dunlop button. Worked great. I like the Dunlops alot better than the Schallers.

I suppose he meant as opposed to being one of those off-stage musicians performing from the old metal folding chair like you see at 4-H meetings.

Chuck the larger screw(s)into a power drill, spin it and run a metal file against it; worked for me. Toothpicks(or wood shavings from scrap)& glue also work.

you must use all Ernie Ball products all the time with your Stingray. EB strings, EB volume pedal, EB straps with EB straplocks and so on.
Otherwise you not only void the warranty but offend the gods.

I did the Dunlop Dual-Design straplocks on my Stingray 8 years ago and it's been OK ever since.

I did my Bongo5 with the same and didn't seem to have any problem. If I had known EB had their own I might have gone that way, but the nice thing right now is obviously being able to use the same strap (which has my wireless beltpack attached) on any bass I have with the Dunlops.

Actually now that I think of it that might be what I did with the Bongo. It's certainly worth a shot.

While the MM screwhead may be bigger, the threaded Dunlop section is bigger (the length doesn't matter).
I've been using Dunlops on all my Musicmans, and I've always used the Dulop screws and they're very tight.

I use dunlops on every guitar and bass that I own. I only have one strap and it is fully interchangeable and super easy to use.
