I just bought one of these two weeks ago and went with Silver with the maple fretboard. That neck is way too nice to cover up with rosewood. :)

Edit: This is the MM bass that finally won me over, Stingrays and Sterlings always left me feeling kind of 'meh'.

Yeah, what's with all the tort? :scowl: I'd go with black/black or silver/black or blue/pearloid.

Wait a sec.... trans white/gold anodized. :)

My old Sabre was an '89 EBMM in black/black with figured maple neck, pretty much the same as the ones offered today. It was possibly the nicest four string I ever owned.

agreed, its got kind of an 80's vibe going, in a good way. the non-exposed pole piece look makes it more of an 80's reissue than a pre-EB reissue.
If it makes you feel any better Music Man made them like this for 2 years prior to Ernie Ball ownership. I have an '83. They mixed and matched headstocks, pups, and electronics during most of the Sabre run. I didn't even know Ernie Ball made them at all in the later 80's until I read TalkBass. So you can comfortably refer to it still as a pre-EB reissue;) And the Blue is really sweet. So is the Black thanks to the pickgaurd and I am partial to the sunburst for obvious reasons.
