Don't get me wrong I still like a little bite. I've heard that the OBP-3 can be very aggressive sounding and is a rather "hot" preamp. Anyway, I'm in Taiwan working. After I finish deliberating, purchase a preamp, and get it installed I'll post an review.
I'd recommend getting a 2 band eq or a John East if you want Stingray bite but without the weird horrid treble clank thing the 3 EQ does. I got the 2 band + mids from John East and it kicks major booty.
haha. i bought the same exact stuff that he posted in a parts list in the megathread. i presume it was just the cheapest parts to get by. i did use the 220k input resistor instead of 100k. ive got an ernie ball ray pickup sitting here too but im saving it for another project. the duncan actually had a dcr that was ever so slightly higher but they were pretty much the same. ive been having a great time with this pre. i use it in my fender jazz too. i really dig it in fenders because its not as extreme sounding as all the aftermarket pres. super natural and doesnt make the bass sound hi tech.
