I've been seriously considering going the EBMM Stingray Custom Design Experience route and was wondering if anyone has recent experience/knowledge on the time it takes from placing the order till receiving it. Thanks.

I have the 2-band version and it sounds great, a nice option for my passive basses. since I bought it I've acquired a Tim Commerford active Stingray (post forthcoming) and I'm now considering getting the 3-band pedal as well for the added mid control.

I considered one when I had my starry night passive short scale. Once I aquired my Tim Cummerford short scale active, I let the idea go. But I'm considering picking one up in case I can get some sort of 5 string short scale that would need it.

When I do end up placing the custom design, I was thinking of getting it with an ebony fingerboard, just because I don't have a bass in my collection that has that.

My question: With ebony, can they do dot inlays, or it best to leave without inlays? Follow up question: For those that have ebony, how do you like it?

my Tim Commerford active has an ebony fingerboard and dots, I quite like the ebony board, I find it smooths out the pingy high end compared to the maple board Stingrays I've tried out.

I like the way Ebony feels . The notes bloom differently with Ebony. It has an immediate and clear note response . More piano like sustain and note separation. It doesn't hide mistakes well. Not as warm in the mids as rosewood . You'll notice every registering even in response .
My first StingRay Special 5HH had ebony. My experience is that the ebony is slightly more heavy.

I prefer rosewood and maple on mine. But that's just me.

I think Ebony looks very upscale with no inlays , especially on a black bass . It looks great.

I don't know that it's entirely due to the ebony, but my Cruz Teal 4H is the heaviest of my Specials, fwiw.
