So I always wanted a stingray and finally have the chance in a couple of weeks to get one,used of course.I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the music man sub bass (the usa one) all I know is that it is made in the us,how does it compare to the sterling ray 34 in terms of quality and is it worth shelling out the extra couple of bucks to get a stingray/sterling.(I did do a google search before making this but all I found was the cheaper sub bass.)

The old US SUB bass was made on the same assembly line along side all other US StingRays. Same hardware and electronics, just they used up non-pretty woods and a basic textured finish, and no body contours.
The licensed overseas copies you found in the Sterling By MM are just that: licensed copies made by a different company and not by EBMM.

I just recently traded for a MM S.U.B. I haven't been able to really put it through it's paces yet because it needs a new jack, but it is very well made and more comfortable to play than I expected.
Remember. . There are sub basses and there are made in usa sub basses. ..... huge difference
My 2 usa sub 5 strings sound and feel like classic rays to me.

Oddly enough, I see the US made ones going for the same or less than the SBMM Ray series.
I have owned quite a few US SUBs over the years, currently have 2, and I can say without a doubt... They are amazing basses! They compare very highly with the standard USA series in tone and feel.
And I'd gladly take 3 or 4 SUBs over a single Classic, for the same price.

Agreed. I love the LOOK of the classics. ..... but if I were to pay that much I wouldn't accept a slab body or, imho, a single pickup design (I prefer multi pups for versatility). But at the price of a decent import bass to get such an amazing usa instrument...... the build quality is insane on these things, and the b strings and general tone and so on is as good as my other two basses which are each 2+ thousand dollar axes.
I get arguably more interesting touch control of my tone with my fretted sub than with my other two main fretted basses.
