Snakefinger—The Man In The Dark Sedan
Yes, USA Network/Night Flight on the weekends was liberation…way ahead of MTV, which had just started up itself. MS and RC had really outlived their usefulness and gotten stale, like most of the bands still being showcased. NF was like a video throwback to the freeform FM radio of 15 years previous, but in a(then)modern context; you never knew what insane stuff would pop up. There are old clips on YT, I wish more was available.Wow, that brings back memories! As a teenager in Colorado in the late 70's/early 80's, after we got cable TV, I used to stay up into the wee hours to watch the bands on Midnight Special and Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. Somewhere along the line I came upon a show out of Los Angeles called New Wave Theatre, hosted by Peter Ivers. It was bizarre, and a little bit scary, and completely blew my teenaged mind, and exposed me to bands like Fear and X and The Blasters and this song/video by Snakefinger. It was like a transmission from another planet.
