Music software Alberton, Cubase or Logic ?

I am about to buy some software and a controller and was wondering what people’s experiences is with the above companies products, I use a mac and have previously used logic and found it to be good, however I kind of feel Alberton may be more useful given that I want to use it to play with live, not in a complex manner, at the moment my vision is to just have some drum tracks to play along to but in the future I would like to be able to do more, any info would be appreciated

If using a DAW in a live setting is at all part of your workflow, just go with Ableton Live. I'm a die-hard Logic user, but nothing compares to Ableton Live for use in a live setting.

good question. my protools mbox3 is not reliable on my windows 10 machine. a lite version
of ableton live came with my midi keyboard, so, after dragging me feet for a min, i am
learning to use ableton.
i have cakewalk, which is free, but my novation launchkey mini seems to be
optimized for ableton. hope i am making the right choice lol. subscribed

I have Cubase since 1997 or so. I am using 10.5 pro now and it has more than enough options for me. I don't use it to record others. I have never used a DAW live so I can't help you in that regard. I have heard Ableton Live is good and I have always liked Logic's interface. Sorry not much help, good luck.

i Have used logic in the past and found it to be very good for production, Alberton and Cubase are new, however I feel Alberton seems to be the one, I am thinking to buy the Invalid Link Removedand give it a spin, my wish is to have a controller that I can pre program and play along with live, I also have a Alesis SR18 that I like a lot but am a bit limited by the available loops/instruments I can’t find a drummer using brushes for example.

That’s a fantastic combo. I’ve been an Ableton user since version 1.0 beta and am currently beta testing 10.x.x. And the Akai is killer. Enjoy.

Ableton Live for Live
Presonus Studio One for Studio

You can drag tracks from Ableton to Studio One. Save tracks in Studio One and import into Ableton.

In fact for stuff like ARA and Melodyne I find myself exporting stuff to Studio One to massage the tracks, then importing them back to Ableton to play them.

Try a few DAWs, and see how well they play together.

I was already using Steinberg Pro24 with an Atari in the early 90's so I stuck to Cubase until today but the pro-audio community seems to aggregate around DAW product as such:
Electronic Music and live performances: Ableton
Composers and songwriters: Cubase or Logic (Logic if you are a Mac person, it half the price as Cubase)
Pro recording studios: Pro Tools (not that it is better than Cubase but is has become the standard). I personally dislike their subscription thing
Cockos Reaper: Cheapo or broke or adventurous musicians ready for a complicated and frustrating DAW

In my experience, some "Lite" versions of those DAWs already allow you to do a lot. I bought Cubase Element for my son and you really can do a lot with it.
