Musical Cleansing

So, I'm a teenager in these days of Lady Gaga, Usher, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, etc, and I must say, it's pretty painful. I would relate it a lot to Farenheit 451 for those that have read it. I have gotten those metaphorical books (good music), and I can't go back. My dad was the one who started me with that, and I can't thank him enough. He started me off with CD's along the likes of Alice Cooper, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, Hendrix, Buddy Rich, etc., and kept me away from whatever 90's hits were happening at the time, and thusly, I am eternally grateful (although, I must say, at the time, I didn't understand Bron-Y-Aur Stomp AT ALL). Without my dad's influence, I probably wouldn't be on these forums, and playing bass. So I'm here to pose the question(s);
1. If you have kids already, did you try to purify your kids' music tastes, and if so, with what?
2. If you are going to have kids, will you try to keep them on the musical straight and narrow, and with what? (Let's just say.....10 albums that they can listen to)

My albums for my future kids will be:
1. Them Crooked Vultures- Them Crooked Vultures
2. Foo Fighters- The Colour and the Shape/There Is Nothing Left To Lose
3. Led Zeppelin- Mothership (Remastered)
4. Wolfmother- Wolfmother
5. The Jimi Hendrix Experience- Experience Hendrix
6. Buddy Rich- Best of Buddy Rich
7. Queen- Greatest Hits
8. Queens of the Stone Age- Queens of the Stone Age (Remastered. If it ever comes out that is)
9. Red Hot Chili Peppers- One Hot Minute
10. Creedence Clearwater Revival- Best of CCR

So yeah, I was just wondering basically if I was one of the only ones thinking along these lines

I remember feeling somewhat like that around 1996-97. Basically, there was great music around all through high school, but then when I got to college....*wham* Jewel, Third Eye Blind, Britney Spears, and a barrage of one-hit blunders. It was like someone had turned on a firehose of crap.

haha...i gotta tell you i still love that first 3rd eye blind album. "god of wine" is just a great song....really, that record is full of great songs.

but to the op's question, heck yes my kids music listening will be edited. my hope is that they will love music the way that i do.
