Just remember... Single coil & Series mode man. Spend most of your time there.
Either active or passive. Just use one pickup or all buttons off most of the time to get in SC or series mode respectively. 2 buttons down or 3 buttons is all parallel, not my favorite but what people tend to want to do when they get the bass at first
According to the diagram, the only way to do series is with all buttons off and you get pickups 1 and 2 in series. Otherwise always parallel. I didn't think single coil was switchable. I thought they were always single coil. I'm so cornfused.
FWIW....... For me, all buttons up, (middle and bridge pups in series),which is passive, sounds the best. Second best is the same but active, add EQ if needed. After that, every button I push, no matter the order, makes it sound worse. YMMV, but this is what I have found. I do wonder how the humbucker sounds in this bass, I assume very much like a Bongo.
You can have that series mode in all 3 pickups buttons up in active (last button down) or passive (Last button up).
But yeah, adding more pickup buttons down puts you in parallel & I'm not a big fan either except in very certain situations. One pickup button or none for me, in either active or passive

Anybody have picks of a big al in candy red and rosewood with a different pick guard other than the black?
no, but owned a vertigo and its a great bag, I can't see there would be any problems whatsoever.
All button up, active mode. I am pushing the mid knobs almost all the way up too. It's the best tone I can get for Young Country. Still going through all kinds of strings wondering what will work the best. EB Slinky's seem to be the least buzzy but I still like nickel plated ones.
Initial impressions after 1 hour of play.
Balance is perfect. The neck feels great and appears to be quartersawn. Lightweight and huge growling tone. Series in passive mode with tone rolled off with middle and bridge pups is my favorite so far.
It may need flats to cop a true vintage tone.

yeah, the upgraded EBMM Cobalt flats are supposed to be out in stores in April, I have pre-ordered a set to try out.
I tried the cobalt rounds and really hated them. Sorry to say. They felt like razor wire to me
also, if you like TIs, you may want to consider the Labella flexible flats, similar feel, less coin.
