Musicman Sabre?

Man, I've always wanted one of these basses. The main reason being Rudy Sarzo playing one with Ozzy (Or, did he play a Music Man Cutlass?). Here's the clip:

Rudy played a Sabre, as seen in that video: wood neck.

The Music Man Cutlass basses had graphite/composite necks (all black). The Cutlass I had a Stingray body, the Cutlass II had a Sabre body.

I find the comments about Sabres having low output and sounding passive, extremely odd.
I own '78 Sabre, it has the hottest output of any bass I've ever owned or played (lots).
as far as sounding passive, if you back the tone knob down you can get some decent P or J bass tones, but if you want the active Stingray tone, it's there too.
as far as the new RI goes, they should just call it a Sabre and leave out the RI part because it's quite different than the original.
the bridge looks totally wrong and dare I say ugly?
looks like there's mutes on it, that's cool.
the pickups don't have exposed pole pieces and I'm doubting they're like the originals.
it has a strat style selector instead of three toggles.
the only things that look like the original are the body, control plate and neck.
I't's probably a cool bass though.

yeah classic seems like a better choice of words.
at the price they're asking, I predict they'll disappear faster this time around.

dissapear as in selling fast or getting discontinued?

I think the price is pretty fair. the stingray classics have sold reasonably well and the quality of workmanship and materials is super nice.

I think this is more of a remake of the late 80's era sabre and not so much the original sabre like yours.

I'd love to have a Sabre but I like the older style better than the newer style with blade switch, but the price on the new ones I feel is unrealistic, I wouldn't pay more than a comparable Fender. That's me, mind you, and the Fenders I've bought have all been used. Maybe I'm cheap?

Mmmmm, my '80 PreEB Sabre has slightly lower output than any of the preEB StingRays I've owned. Not alot, but it is noticeable playing back to back.

The Classic Sabre is the same as EB's version, not the preEB version. So yes you see the standard Ray mute bridge, non-exposed pickups, hat switch.
